Stay Healthy

There are many important things that contribute to being the best lifeguard such as proper training, reviewing skills and staying healthy! Staying "healthy" can mean many things to many people. But a broad definition of "healthy" is keeping your body at a state of soundness and vigor. That would include keeping things out that are potentially harmful to your body (smoking, drinking and drugs). But my definition of healthy is WAY more in depth than that.

My definition of healthy- To maintain a proper and balanced diet, aerobic and anaerobic exercising and having muscle strength and endurance.

Now everyone's body is different so how you balance those things I listed above is based on your body. But being strong, fast and healthy is CRUCIAL to being the best lifeguard you can be. Doesn't it make sense? You're a LIFE guard, you are protecting people's lives. So you should be in the best possible shape to do so. For example, our military trains there bodies and minds to be physically and emotionally ready to protect our country. We wouldn't want people defending our country who are physically fit and properly trained fighting for our freedom would we? NO! So there you have it.... make sure you are keeping up with your body, not only for your job but for yourself. You will feel better, look better and live longer.
